Privacy Policy

Deal Breaker ("the App") lets you build a short, anonymous compatibility questionnaire and share it with another person via a one-time code. This policy explains what information we collect, how it's used, and who it's shared with.

Information we collect

Device ID, not accounts. The App has no user accounts, logins, names, email addresses, or phone numbers. On first use, your device generates a random identifier stored locally in your browser or app storage. This identifier is sent to our server with each request so we can track free-plan usage limits and premium status. It is not tied to your real-world identity.

Questionnaire content. Questions you write, the answer options you provide, and the green/yellow/red ratings you assign are stored on our server so the person you send a code to can answer them. The person answering only ever sees the shuffled, unlabeled question list — never your ratings.

Answers. When someone answers a questionnaire, their selected answers are stored on our server and used only to compute the compatibility score and deal-breaker result shown to the person who created the questionnaire. Raw ratings and raw answers are never shown to anyone, including the questionnaire's creator — only the computed summary.

Payment information. If you purchase the one-time upgrade, payment is processed entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.

AI features (premium only). If you use the wording-polish or question-suggestion tools, the text you're editing is sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. We do not send your device ID, quiz code, or any other identifying information alongside that text.

What we don't collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or browsing history. We do not use third-party advertising trackers or sell any data to advertisers.

How long we keep data

We currently retain questionnaire content and answers indefinitely, for as long as needed to show results to the questionnaire's creator. If you'd like something removed sooner, see "Your choices" below.

Children's privacy

This App is not intended for anyone under 17, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

Since there's no account system, there's no login-based data export or deletion flow. If you'd like a specific questionnaire's data removed, contact us at dealbreakerapp@proton.me with the questionnaire code, and we'll delete it from our database.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App changes. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
